Nutrient Synergy
Vitamin K + Calcium
Vitamin K directs calcium into bones, not arteries
How It Works
Vitamin K2 activates osteocalcin (a bone protein) that directs calcium into bones and teeth. It also activates Matrix GLA Protein which prevents calcium from depositing in arteries. Without vitamin K, calcium may go to the wrong places — arteries instead of bones.
Pro tip: Kale covers both — or pair leafy greens with dairy
Best Food Pairings
Pair a vitamin k-rich food with a calcium-rich food.
